Tampa, Fla. (March 17, 2022) – THE PLASENCIA GROUP advised a private family in the sale of the renowned Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida, to a partnership between Mast Capital and Amzak Capital. The independently branded resort is situated in a bustling northern Tampa suburb, and is home to two of Florida’s most picturesque Arnold Palmer golf courses, as well as the world-class Hopman Tennis Academy. The expansive resort features over 500 keys, nearly 100,000 square feet of meeting space, a variety of amenities including a 500,000-gallon pool, and several outlets. Additionally, Saddlebrook is home to Saddlebrook Preparatory School, a fully accredited college preparatory boarding school with a worldwide reputation for producing elite tennis and golf student-athletes.
The Plasencia Group’s Tampa office facilitated the transaction, spearheaded by Chris Plasencia, and is one of the latest in The Plasencia Group’s recent history of successful client engagements in Florida. The company’s principals have facilitated the sale and financing of more than 2,300 rooms across the Sunshine State’s most active lodging markets in the last 13 months, at an average value of nearly $300,000 per-key.
“Saddlebrook is one of the Tampa Bay Area’s most iconic hotels, with one of the largest, yet most flexible, aggregations of meeting space in the area, plus a diverse mix of amenities. We are excited to see the property’s already storied legacy grow under the stewardship of the new owners,” commented Chris Plasencia.
The Tampa Bay area continues to rank among the fastest growing regions in the country, with many of Florida’s 1,100 new daily residents settling in the area. The region’s economy is booming due to factors such as a highly favorable business climate, lower cost of living, abundant employment opportunities, and easy access to international and domestic business travel. Economic growth in and around Tampa is not expected to abate for the foreseeable future.
The Plasencia Group has advised on the transaction, asset management, renovation, development and refinancing of numerous hotels and resorts in Florida and across the country over the last year. Over its three decades in business, the firm has facilitated and structured hundreds of significant capital events for institutional and independent owners of hospitality assets across North America.
