“This is my American bistro, with a French accent,” is the way the late chef Michele Richard described this restaurant. Located in the heart of the District, Central Michele Richard has received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including a James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in 2008.
What To Order
Appetizers: Cheese Puffs, Bacon Onion Tart or Crab Toast
Entrées: If you want beef, I suggest the Short Rib served atop basmati rice with a light soy/sesame suace and crispy bok choy. Michel’s Fried Chicken, served with a white gravy over mashed potatoes is a best-seller, and the restaurant is also well-know for the Shrimp Burger.
Sides: Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, Macaroni & Cheese
Desserts: While it’s not typically on the menu, I highly recommend the profiteroles atop homemade vanilla ice cream. The Deconstructed Banana Split is a fan favorite, as is Michel’s Chocolate Bar.
