Just down the road from AT&T Stadium and GlobeLife Field in downtown Arlington is this family-owned spot that opened during the pandemic but doesn’t seem to have suffered too badly, judging by the steady but fast-moving lines often seen outside. Hurtado specializes in “Mexicue” and features both traditional BBQ favorites like sliced brisket and spareribs, as well as fusion Mexican dishes like brisket birria tacos and green chili pork tostadas. They have some great sides and specials as well. Grab a platter of ‘cue to-go (the food keeps well in their takeout containers) or find a spot at a picnic table on their spacious open-air patio. You can also place takeout orders in advance online. If taking out, grab your favorite brew at Legal Draft Beer Co. just a couple blocks away before heading home. Hurtado Barbecue is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, and is the perfect spot for a casual weekday lunch or a family feast on the weekend.
