Geddy’s
19 Main Street, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609 | Geddy’s Bar Harbor
In the heart of Bar Harbor’s quaint downtown district, just a few minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park, few culinary experiences compare to a fresh-caught lobster roll at Geddy’s overlooking the idyllic Frenchman Bay. Having begun life in the early 1970s as a truly dingy and dangerous saloon, former owner and namesake Gerry “Geddy” Mitchell transformed the spot into a world-famous, entertainment-focused restaurant and venue that has hosted such notable names in music as Bonnie Raitt, Wynton Marsailis, Taj Mahal, Pure Prairie League, and Arlo Guthrie. Today’s guests can enjoy an expansive menu of regional staples and fresh seafood while surrounded by relics of Bar Harbor’s storied past— real fishing gear, historic photographs, and various memorabilia of the restaurant and city.
What to order:
If the answer isn’t clear yet, first-timers would be doing themselves a disservice to not order the Maine Lobster Roll. Lobster lovers can also enjoy variations that include Bacon Jalapeño Rolls, Lobster Bakes, and even Lobster Pizza! Be sure to make reservations well in advance of your visit if traveling during busy season and also shop in Geddy’s Down Under and Geddy’s by the Sea, the restaurant’s popular apparel outlets, after your meal.
