Why work with us on your next project?

A common sense approach

Decades of experience allow us to offer practical guidance when it comes to every aspect of a renovation or development project. Whether evaluating materials, directly sourcing supplies and services or managing multiple contractors, we identify the most cost-effective options for our clients.

Experience & expertise

Our team provides extensive experience in assisting hotel owners and lenders in the evaluation of their assets and the development of comprehensive portfolio and individual property strategies focusing on profitability even under the most challenging market conditions.

Our team’s extensive experience in the hospitality industry, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of hotel operations, translates into proven strategies and processes to carefully manage the client’s development or renovation investments from project inception to completion. Nearly thirty years and four economic cycles in the lodging industry have presented challenges and experiences that can only be earned with time. We’ve worked with major institutional owners and private developers alike to complete more than $4 billion in renovations and developments across all major brands and property types.

Long-standing networks of professional contacts allow us to bring together a second-to-none team of collaborators to complete a project, no matter its size. We call on these contacts to reach the most favorable terms for each phase of your asset’s renovation or ground-up development.

Owner profitability

We approach each project with ownership’s long-term investment interests in mind. We begin every project with an analysis of a project’s impact on the owner’s bottom line.

Minimal displacement and revenue lost

The longer a room or common area is out of service, the more potential revenue is lost. We strive to minimize operational disruptions, and thus revenue loss throughout the project.

Tampa, Florida | Industry Tenure: 32 Years

Florida native Guy Lindsey got his start on the ground floor of the lodging industry –– literally. Soon after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Science from Auburn University, Guy started his career as a project manager for a general contractor on sizable hotels in Atlanta and Hilton Head Island, among other substantial office and retail building projects along the East coast. Shortly thereafter, he was offered a position as a project manager on the ownership side of the business at Holiday Inn Worldwide, now InterContinental Hotels Group.

Working on behalf of a major hotel and resort owner, Guy was able to draw on his knack for making swift enterprising decisions. This shift in his leadership role allowed him to make fast (and lasting) impacts on major hotel renovations in cities across the country. In 2001, he was hired as Vice President of Design and Construction at Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc., where he spent the majority of his career, overseeing more than $2 billion in iconic hotel renovations and conversions, including the recent repositioning of the Wailea Beach Resort in Maui and the historic 1,060-room Park Plaza Boston. He’s also served in senior design and construction roles with Northview Hotel Group and Park Hotels & Resorts during his lodging development career spanning three decades, living and working in markets across the country.

Guy joined The Plasencia Group in September 2018 as Senior Managing Director of the firm’s Development Management Consulting Division. He says the transition to the firm’s management team happened as an evolution from ongoing consulting projects to working alongside the team as a full-time principal. A longtime friend of the company, Guy’s ties to the firm go back to the 1990s when The Plasencia Group was still building the foundation of its investment sales and consulting track record.
